I assume this means an 'arcade' owner would be able to simply slap on an external HDD and be done with it? Sounds like a good option...probably end up costing the same mind you as buying an Elite but you would certainly have a lot more space for the same price.
If the marketing chumps at Sony had half a brain they would be including GOW1 and 2 in the package for 3. That would be a real incentive for people to go out and buy it!
If the accounts guys have a heart attack at the thought of giving something away then the next best thing is create a special edition and charge something trivial like and extra 5, 10 bucks/pounds only and you get all 3 games. It needs to be something really small so you still feel like you are getting it for nothing yet they are clawing valuable dollars back in increased sales.

HDD placement has nothing to do with it. A hard drive can be placed both vertically and horizontally in a PC.
For someone in their 40's (at a minimum I estimate) you really need to grow up. Fanboy can't be used in this case, I propose...FANMAN!
