Sales of PSP hardware have risen by over 120 per cent following the launch of PSPgo, says Sony.
In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, SCEE also claims increased sales of PSP-3000, the most recent of its larger models: "PSPgo has performed in line with our expectations, driving 100 per cent incremental volume for the category and has benefited the broad PSP portfolio."
PSP software sales, it continues, have been a "standout" thanks to new releases FIFA 10 and Gran Turismo PSP, which have jumped to the top of the UK PSP software charts, displacing Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Need For Speed: Shift.
Retail monitor Chart-Track, however, has refused to disclose its independent figures. "It's a new format and we are simply not revealing the figures for public consumption," said director Dorian Bloch.
