Dundee, Scotland-based Realtime Worlds has opened a new 8,000 sq ft office as it looks to grow its headcount to over 300 by the end of the year.

Founded in 2002 by creative director Dave Jones, the Crackdown and APB developer also operates a 26,000 sq ft location and currently has 265 staff.

“When we opened our current facility less than three years ago we hadn’t yet shipped our first game. Since then we’ve had tremendous commercial and critical success, and have done the lion’s share of the work towards a successful launch of our online title APB,” said studio manager Colin Macdonald. “This additional space allows us to continue to grow at the pace needed to attain the quality of a game like APB, and build the infrastructure required to support its online launch.”

We recently caught up with Dave Jones to talk about the development of APB and the company’s transition from a pure game developer to a service-based company.
