As expected, Konami has reported sharp revenue and profit declines for the six months ended September 30, 2009.
Company wide revenues fell 22.5 per cent year-on-year to 114 billion yen ($1.27b/£757m), operating income declined 79.8 per cent to 4.6 billion yen ($51.1m/£30.6m), and net income fell 81.3 per cent to 2.2 billion yen ($24.4m/£14.6m).
Game sales halved to 20.8 billion yen ($231m/£138.2m), while operating income related to games plummeted from 26.3 billion yen to 4.5 billion yen ($50m/£29.9m).
The publisher attributed the declines to the fact that its biggest games for the current fiscal year were scheduled for release in the second half, “while in the same period last year major titles, in particular, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots, had already been released”.
Konami better get that remake of Snatcher out!
Or at the very least make a XBLA/PSN version with new HD drawings, the game's story still very solid and stands out as a classic.
