Gameloft Sales Up 18 Per Cent

French publisher Gameloft has reported €90.2 million in sales for the first nine months of 2009, up 18 per cent year-on-year.

Mobile games generated 95 per cent of sales and console games the remainder. Europe was the firm’s biggest market, accounting for 38 per cent of sales. North America and the rest of the world both generated 31 per cent of revenues.

“Mobile game activity continues to grow rapidly. Revenue from this segment increased 17 per cent over the first nine months of the year due to the huge success of Gameloft games on Apple's App Store and to the strong performance of the company’s Java and Brew games. Therefore, the company expects solid sales and profitability growth in 2009," Gameloft said In a statement.

“In the long term, Gameloft is in an ideal position to benefit from the rapid development of digitally distributed video games on mobile phones and consoles, as well as from the major innovations introduced by companies such as Apple, Nokia and Google.“

Gameloft was formed in 1999 by the Guillemot family brothers, who are also the founders and owners of Ubisoft.
