Hi.
I do not have a blog anywhere so thought to write one here.
I am a musician-composer-producer from Italy, and I am very interested in interactive media.
My first entry will be about an experiement we made in Italy with Nintendo this February, a live gig using the software Wii Music for Wii.

Wii Music is a very interesting software as it makes possibile for people who never composed music to create their own without knowing how to play instrument or compose/arrange music.
The "trick" of the software is a certain amount of quantization (16th) and the use of harmony from well known popular song as base on which people play and create on six tracks.
So users do not have to care about harmony rules and are helped on tempo, but still they have A LOT of personalization and creation possiblities due to the fact that programmers have inserted many notes on each song (all 16th on all tracks have 3 notes, it means more than 7.200 notes possible for each song).
So it has been possible for us to select in all the country various compositions made with Wii Music from skilled users, and to play them live with electric-acoustic instruments.
Result: non-musicians having their music played live by professional musicians (form Morricone orchestra, Peter Gabriel's label etc..), very exciting for us and them!
